Joshua Foran has always been interested in making things. Starting with playing around with his dad's wire welder and a stick welder that his grandpa built, metal working and fabrication has always been a strong interest.

Josh studied Manufacturing Engineering at Tennessee Tech where he became part of the Formula SAE program. While working on the FSAE team, Josh learned how to TIG weld, and work a mill and lathe to help build the team's chassis and suspension.

From Tech, Josh went to work as a new model engineer at Honda Manufacturing of Alabama, where he was part of the associate run pro race team, Team HMA. Started with sweeping floors, Josh eventually worked his way up to building the teams pro race cars, driving them, and eventually became the team lead and lead driver.

Josh always viewed blacksmithing as the ultimate form of metal work but seemed unattainable. That is until Josh found the Alabama Forge Council in November of 2017. What started as forging a simple J hook quickly evolved into a passion that would open a whole new world to him.

In 2021 Josh went on to compete on the hit History Channel TV show, Forged in Fire. After a 13 month wait the show aired Season 9 Episode 11 called Flip the Forge. Contestants got to choose their challenge for round one and two. The final round involved building a Tibetan sword. Through one of the closest rounds, Josh walked away as Champion due to having better balance.
